Some may know how to identify the disorders but few have the expertise or means to treat them effectively. In fact, most therapists contend that personality disorders are permanent. They erroneously believe that the only hope lies in gaining some degree of manageability over the symptoms – i.e. that the disorders are so entrenched in one’s “personality” that they can not be eradicated and that afflicted individuals are destined to lifelong therapy and symptom management.

At InterAct we believe the formation of the personality disorders is related to defensive reactions in response to various forms of childhood trauma. Correspondingly, we maintain that resolution of the trauma and overcoming the associated developmental deficits can lead to: 1) the successful eradication of the disorder; and, 2) an ultimate encounter with, as well as unfolding and maturation of, one’s true, “God-given personality”. Until one’s true personality is developed, some form of grief, depression and anxiety will always be co-present in a person’s life sabotaging one’s sense of happiness and contentment.

We specialize in the treatment of the following personality disorders:

  • Borderline
  • Narcissistic
  • Histrionic
  • Antisocial
  • Obsessive-Compulsive
  • Dependent

We also contend that addictive behavior is frequently symptomatic of an underlying personality disorder(s). Failure to treat the underlying personality disorder can result in frustrations associated with chronic relapse. Furthermore, frequently undetected in marital/relational therapy, personality disorders can cause a perpetual history of relational conflict, insecurity, loneliness, lack of fulfillment.

InterAct is poised with our various programs to assist both helping professionals and those struggling with personality disorders in the treatment, eradication and ultimate transcendence of the identified disorder. (See intensives, experiential therapy, trauma resolution
